Made a minor update to the site on Christmas, adding the Discordian date to the home page. I ran across ddate a short while back and have been wanting to incorporate it into the domain, so that's step one. My goal is to add it to this news page & the games sub-domain, but I'm not positive how that'll work with Nikola just yet.

Also been working on building my Codeberg presence & actually uploading software rather than just leaving it lying around on my systems. The big one, OnCall, is undergoing a major update presently, so I'm not quite ready to share it yet. Thought I was, but not just yet...

Other than that, lot of work has been going on in the home domain. Almost ready to fully commit my gaming desktop to Linux. It's currently dual booting Linux & Win10 as there was one game, Kun'tewiktuk: A Mi'kmaw Adventure, that I wanted to play through at least once first. Haven't been able to get it running on Ubuntu yet, so might try Fedora like I'm using for the rest of these instead. Anyways, I finished my first play through at about 5 hours. It's pretty short & somewhat rough, but I enjoy the storytelling aspects & cultural preservation of the game.

I wrote a new license today, Koplyleft, for a work project. I've been using "Kopyleft" for the life of my domain, but had never bothered to actually define it before. I figured it was always good enough & those who saw it would understand the intent.

"Koplyleft" specifically came from a typo made on my site when I first published it. I didn't want to legally define a term in the common domain (Kopyleft), so I've established this deviation to carry the spirit & help grow the open source community.

Well, since the company has granted me consent to open source projects made at work, I figured I should actually define a license for it. I'm very happy the company is agreeable to & supportive of open source initiatives.

Gigabit

Finally got an old Linksys router I bought off eBay flashed to OpenWrt & installed in the bedroom both for ethernet on the desktop, plus a WiFi access point for the downstairs / yard. I still need to work some kinks out of the network configuration, but my initial Fast.com speedtest showed incredibly promising results of >1Gbps (peaking at 1.8Gbps).

Granted, that's also cus it was a Saturday morning, so everyone was either sleeping or away from home & the neighborhood network wouldn't be taking much of a hit other than my own domain. Still, really nice to have a Gigabit network down and looking at upgrading to 10G or more down the line. CAT8.2 could be fun, but I'll need new network hardware for that.

Finally initiated the transfer on the wiseeyesent.com domain registration, moving from AWS over to CloudFlare. The pricing looks good, so hopefully this goes smoothly enough. This is only the second time I believe I've transferred a personal domain, originally from HostGator (ooooold staff account) over to Amazon Registrar & now to CloudFlare.

Holidays, et al

PayPal's cart functionality is broken & GMail is noticeably lagging. (GMail also has an insane number of background activity for a single tab. I guess that's why people use clients.) Plus roads were hella congested (& this place is already famous for the World's Worst Driversᵀᴹ) so I guess it's officially the holidays.

I got my router's webUI working through https with a valid domain qualified certificate though, which is pretty cool. Still working on ansibling the network, but there's over a decade of technical involved in that, so it'll be a progressive thing.

I'm working on setting up a new system to demo projects, but dunno how long that'll take. Also planning a session of Honey Heist with friends. Life is certainly getting busy enough these days.
